Hellbender Presents "Something Spectacular" with Mother of Earl, Jack Swing, and The Imaginatron Moving Company

Hellbender + WYEP proudly announces our second-ever "Hellbender Presents" showcase featuring a dynamic triple-bill of indie rock excellence on April 4.

Mother of Earl headlines the evening, bringing their distinctive rock & roll sound to our stage. Formed in Morgantown, WV in 2019, the band features founding members Alex Nanni and Ross Weidman alongside a rotating ensemble of talented collaborators. Mother of Earl released their sophomore album "Extinction Burst" last November, showcasing their evolving sound and creative vision.

In the middle spot is Detroit's enigmatic The Imaginatron Moving Company. Described by their own member Nick (who works at Hellbender) as "A real mess," this elusive collective blends performance art, improvisation, and collaborative expression. With only one video existing online, The Imaginatron Moving Company remains shrouded in mystery to us Pittsburgers.

Jack Swing takes the opening slot, showcasing their genre-defying approach to music. Rather than confining themselves to a single style, Jack Swing maintains a standard of excellence across their work, allowing them to explore diverse musical territories. Their sound is best described as honest, energetic, and introspective music rooted in rock and roll, soul, and funk foundations. The band—featuring Isaiah Ross (Guitar/Vocals), Rowdy Kanarek (Bass/Vocals), Isaiah Small (Keys), Alex Nelson (Drums), and Jonah Handler (Guitar)—recently released their new record "Like Water" in January.

Hosting the show is a local favorite for not only live music, but vinyl shopping, and drinks, The Government Center. The Gov't Center is dedicated to fostering a community of people who genuinely care about music, and they invite you to be part of it.

Experience this diverse musical journey featuring rock, soul, funk, and experimental artistry—all in a venue that celebrates music's true spirit.
