Name: Orlando Marshall

What does your day to day look like? After the record is pressed, it is trimmed to its proper size and presented to me to check for any concerning audible or visual flaws (loud clicks, pops, etc). If there are any findings, I report them to our press operator, who then makes any possible adjustments to correct those findings.
How did you get into vinyl record production? My 20+ years as a musician and DJ (both locally and nationally) and known reputation for attention to detail was long recognized by Jeff Betten, who brought me on board as soon as things were set in motion to start operating here at Hellbender Vinyl.
Do you have a favorite record you own? What is it? It's almost impossible to choose a favorite, and that changes often, but right now I will say Herbie Hancock - Dedication. It was originally a Japan-only release in 1974. It's Herbie all by himself. One side of the record is him at the acoustic piano, and the other side is him using all the latest electronic gadgets of the time: a Fender Rhodes, ARP String Ensemble, and some synthesizers, like the ARP Odyssey. I particularly like the track 'Nobu'.
What are your current top 3 favorite musicians/bands? Azymuth will always be my number one. I also really dig Surprise Chef, and my good friends out in Los Angeles, Joy Guerrilla.
What's the best live music performance you've ever seen? It's really hard to say, because I've seen so many..but It's probably a tie between Azymuth (Los Angeles) and Sheila E (Pittsburgh).
What was your first concert experience like? It was fun and exciting! I was just a kid when I went to Fresh Fest in 1986 at the Civic Arena (which became Mellon Arena, which moved and became PPG Paints Arena). It was Run-DMC, LL Cool J, and Whodini!
