Tips on How to Keep Your Vinyl Order Cheap
We know, vinyl is expensive. Hellbender Vinyl keeps our prices as low as we can, but it still comes with a hefty price tag. But vinyl remains a powerful physical format that fans genuinely treasure - and with some strategic decisions, you can make it more affordable than you might think. Here are some tips on how to save some money while ordering your vinyl!
Color Choices
Black vinyl isn't just classic - it's economical. Colored variants require additional processing, materials, and cleaning time between production runs. By sticking with standard black, you can save 15-30% compared to specialty colors or splatter effects. If you're determined to offer something special, consider a limited colored run alongside a larger black pressing.
Opt for Single Pocket Jackets
Double-pocket gatefolds look impressive but can add 30-50% to your jacket costs. A well-designed single pocket jacket can still create visual impact while saving significantly.
Skip the Shrink Wrap
Shrink wrap feels professional, but it's an unnecessary expense that many labels are moving away from for sustainability reasons. It's truly something that is bought just to be throw away by the buyer. Alternatives like paper sleeves or simple plastic outer sleeves cost significantly less and create less waste. Your vinyl will arrive safely either way, and eco-conscious fans will appreciate the reduced plastic.
Use Regrind
"Regrind" vinyl (made from recycled vinyl scraps) offer some significant savings. While audiophiles might debate the sound quality differences, most listeners can't tell the difference between the two, especially on standard home setups. This option also reduces your environmental footprint.
