Regrind: an affordable, more sustainable way to buy records

In an industry built on cold hard plastic, sustainability is becoming more and more part of the conversation. At Hellbender, we do what we can to reduce our footprint, and the number one way we do this is by using regrind.

But what is regrind?

Regrind, or our “house mix” takes offcuts and rejected pressings, grinds them into pellets, and transforms them into fresh pressing material. Less waste, less new PVC production, more records.

Because the material comes from mixed sources, each pressing features unique marble-like effects and color variations. At Hellbender, we organize by color family—blue-ish, green-ish, red-ish—but the final shade is always a surprise. (Only black comes out a little more predictably.) No two records look exactly alike.
